LTAC RN is a nurse that works with acutely ill patients in a long term setting. These patients are considered stable but acutely ill, usually coming from a step down or ICU inpatient setting. An LTAC nurse possesses critical thinking skills and has extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to treat a variety of traumatic and or disease processes. LTAC nurses work closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and oversee wound care, ventilator care, rehab, occupational therapy, physical therapy and nutrition. They assess, evaluation, intervene when appropriate and remain in constant communication with the resident MD to discuss changes and progress in patient's conditions. LTAC nurse dispense medications, they are responsible for chest tubes, ventilators, wound vacs, critical care IV Drips, enteral nutrition, feeding tubes, central lines etc. They also supervise care given by the nurses' aides and provide emotional support of the patient and family. LTAC nurse is equivalent to a step down nurse in a hospital. Duties and Responsibilities: Accountability Must practice in accordance with the standard of nursing practice at all dividual client job descriptions with units specific requirements and instructions are generally available at each facility. Nurses are expected to review these upon assignment. Required Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. A minimum of one-year current experience (within a year) as an R.N. in the specialty they are applying for. Current active Registered Nurse license in the state of assignment without disciplinary action. Must maintain a current American Heart Association BLS(ACLS, NRP, PALS if applicable) Must pass all prerequisite screening requirements (testing, medical and criminal, etc). Interpersonal and communication skills/ team player. Maintain professional level of conduct as per hospital policy and Nurses24/7 code of conduct. Incentives: Premium Pay !!!
