PSEG is seeking and intern in our Accounting Services group. This position will be located in Newark, NJ.
Primary role is to support the implementation team working on a new Accounting Standard for recording lease transactions (ASC 842) and supporting the installation of new software that will interface to PSEGs General Ledger System. Working with individuals from Accounting, Procurement, IT, Real Estate and PSEG field locations, this position will assist with the analysis, reporting and reconciliations required to enable the system to go live the 3rd Quarter of 2018.
:Participate in cross:functional teams, assisting with the collection, evaluation and analysis of data to support the lease accounting standards and new system software requirements.
:Participate in the evaluation of existing and the creation of new practices and procedures.
:Help coordinate the efforts of Subject Matter Experts in the support of system enhancements including the review of functional specifications, system testing, training and implementation.
Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate (s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree majoring in Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Math, or Computer Science from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidates must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration. Candidates must have excellent oral and verbal communication skills, with keen attention to detail. Candidates must be familiar with Accounting, Budget and Finance processes. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. GPA information MUST be included on your resume for employment consideration
Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:
Some knowledge of General Ledger Software
Some experience developing written policies and procedures
All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer period for the full 10:12 week period. We are targeting: Currently enrolled students with GPA of 3.0 staying in the NJ/NY/PA metro area for the duration of the internship and able to commute to the assigned work location. Housing, transportation, Immigration Support will not be provided with this position.
